Berthoud and Brooks "When only the Best will do..." |
| Our Saddle Satisfaction Guarantee | |
|
Sometimes a saddle just doesn't work for you - it is a personal thing and what works for one person may not for someone else. The best saddle is the one that works best for you. Berthoud and Brooks Saddles carry our 6 month satisfaction Guarantee. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your saddle purchase for any reason, please refund your saddle for either an exchange or for a refund at your discretion. |
Please While we offer a very generous satisfaction guarantee, please do not abuse your saddle. Saddles should be covered in the rain and not over-softened. As you can imagine, we cannot offer this generous guarantee if folks abuse it. |
|
Both Berthoud and Brooks provide a 2-year warranty against defects. Note that Berthoud is more liberal in what they define as a defect. Brooks saddles that "go soft" within the two year period but which otherwise show no signs of abuse are not considered defective. We do not agree with this. It is why many of our very serious riders have made the jump to Berthoud saddles. No leather saddle maker has zero defects. But Berthoud has higher expectations for their products and they stand behind their product. |

Berthoud Touring Saddle
Black, Tan, or Cork finish cork finish saddle shown here
click on image below to enlarge The saddle is made of top quality leather and the leather top can be removed form the undercarriage using the gorgeous Berthoud hardware. The Berthoud saddle has a bit more overall adjustment than a Brooks, although much of the adjustment allows the saddle to be positioned farther forward. This saddle is available in either steel or titanium rails. The Berthoud Touring saddle is similar in width to a Brooks Professional saddle. In other words, it is wider than a Brooks B17 narrow, and narrower than a Brooks B17 standard. A nice feature of the Berthoud Touring saddle is that it has provision to mount a Berthoud 786 bag using a quickfix attachment directly to the rear of the saddle. To take advantage of this, you will need the Berthoud 786 bag and the quickfix Berthoud Touring Saddle Attachment mount (mount sold seperatly). Berthoud saddles carry our saddle satisfaction guarantee - read about it on the top of this page. Berthoud Race Saddle
Black, Tan, or Cork finish black finish saddle shown here
click on image below to enlarge The saddle is made of top quality leather and the leather top can be removed form the undercarriage using the gorgeous Berthoud hardware. This saddle is available in either steel or titanium rails. This race version is narrower than the tour version. It also has a more svelte slightly cut-away on the sides profile. Nonetheless, the majority of the Berthoud saddles we sell are the tour version. So most riders should default to the tour unless they know they want a narrower saddle. Note that the Race version DOES NOT provide the integrated mounting point for a 786 bag. Berthoud saddles carry our saddle satisfaction guarantee - read about it on the top of this page.

Brooks B-17 Standard Black or Honey
click on image below to enlarge The B17 standard is affordably priced, and not terribly different than the B17 Special. The rivets are smaller on the B17 standard, and the rails are black, but that doesn't seem to make a big difference. Even though the B17 standard is less expensive, the leather is typically of the same quality. There is more variation between saddles of the same model than there is between the different models we typically find. The B17 is designed for folks who have a relatively upright riding position (the bars are close in height to the saddle) but not overly so. Should the on-line store indicate they are out of stock, please email us as we usually get them back in stock in just a few days. Click here to see pricing and to purchase Brooks saddles |

Brooks B-17 Special Black or Honey
click on image to enlarge The B17 Special is like our most popular saddle, the B17 Standard, but is fancier. It features large copper rivets and chrome rails. Lets face it, sometimes looks and elegance are important. The B17 is designed for folks who have a relatively upright riding position (the bars are close in height to the saddle) but not overly so. Should the on-line store indicate they are out of stock, please email us as we usually get them back in stock in just a few days. Click here to see pricing and to purchase Brooks saddles |

Brooks Team Professional
In the very old days (and even today), there were B17 Standard and B17 narrow saddles. The narrower saddles are better for riders that are not as upright. Well at some point probably about 50 years ago, Brooks came out with a saddle that had a width in between that of the B17 standard and narrow; and they called it the Professional. So if you have some gap between the saddle height and the top of the bars, this may be the ideal width saddle for you. In the old days, all the Brooks saddles had relatively small rivets. The professional model features large copper rivets. Chrome rails. Should the on-line store indicate they are out of stock, please email us as we usually get them back in stock in just a few days. Brooks Pro Classic Black or Honey
click on image to enlarge In the very old days (and even today), there were B17 Standard and B17 narrow saddles. In the late 1960's or early 70's, Brooks started using big rivets, which apparently are costlier. But we're really not sure they add a whole lot, and we like the look of the smaller rivets from a classic standpoint. So recently, Brooks introduced the "classic" line of Professionial model saddles with hollow rivets, and at very attractive prices! The rails are indeed still chrome.
